About Basra University of Oil and Gas

Basra University of Oil and Gas is the first Iraqi university specialized in the field of oil and gas industry in addition to its coverage in all energy fields... The university was established by virtue of the decision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research No. (Q/3/11) dated 02/23/2014.

The university also established its first college, the College of Oil and Gas Engineering, in the academic year 2013-2014 to include the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering, with (152) male and female students from the scientific branch graduates, as the university relies on the central admission system in accepting its students and according to the planned capacity at the present time as well as in the future, depending on the absorptive capacity available to it, taking into consideration the country's need for distinguished engineering cadres in the field of the oil industry and its extractive and transformational aspects.

The study system at the university is based on the course system and the language of instruction is English. Its curricula have been developed in a manner that is consistent with the solid and internationally approved scientific curricula, taking into consideration the endeavor to review them and provide them with all scientific and research developments. We also look forward to establishing scientific relations and cultural exchange with solid international universities.

As for choosing its location in the fragrant Basra Governorate, it is the economic capital of Iraq, as it contains the largest and even giant Iraqi oil and gas fields in Iraq, as well as its proximity to the sites of international oil companies in the oil industry.

The current location of the university is located in the site of the University of Basra in Karmat Ali, while the university has a permanent location located in the Qurna District, north of Basra. The engineering designs for the university buildings have been referred to one of the international companies outside Iraq to be a distinguished scientific and architectural edifice in the governorate.

College of Oil and Gas Engineering
College of Industrial Management of Oil and Gas
All of them research in the fields of energy

The university seeks to bring distinguished teaching staff from Iraqi universities as well as from international universities to form the basic foundation for this prestigious scientific edifice. The university also seeks seriously to bring Iraqi scientific competencies from outside the country to be an additional tributary in supporting its scientific journey.

This scientific and educational institution has set a vision, mission and goals that make it one of the distinguished scientific edifices in our beloved country and globally, so that it provides society with cadres that enjoy high professionalism and the ability to interact and provide the best offerings, committed to the lofty human values ​​and ideals and Islamic ethics inspired by the message of our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
